My father has a 2008 Chevy Uplander Van, at 65 MPH on flat land he is getting about 24 MPG, and 55 he is getting about 30 MPG. That is 6 MPG savings. So if we use a savings of 5 MPG times the vehicles in the Kansas City Metro, and if there are a Million Vehicles then that would be 5,000,000 miles in savings for every 55 miles driven, or per hour. Now take this times the number of hours driven, times the number of vehicles driven in the US, you do the math

Paul, I am in complete support of the Tea Party thing, but the thing that concerns me the most is that in all the pictures I have seen on the Internet, I haven't noticed any supporters from other ethnic backgrounds. I'm sure there must be at least some supporters from other nationalities, but do you think they were afraid to participate because of possible persecution or rejection from their ethnic friends?

Ed,
You missed the point of the post. The point is that McCain supporters and conservatives during the last election cycle were portrayed as these vicious, radical people that are violent and anger filled.

This video just demonstrated how vicious liberals can be. They're all for tolerance until they disagree with you.

It is the result of numbers. There were so many more Obama supporters that it just appears a lot of them were demonstrating. Truth is, it was a very small percentage and they were made up of all the people afraid that McCain would be like Bush. After all, he was 100% behind Bush and dumb enough to pick Palin.

Funny how there is no mention of the Gramm, Leach, Bliley Act. That is the bill that stopped the regulations from the 1933 Glass, Steagall Act and allowed all these financial institutions to cause the housing crisis and the current economic crisis. By the way, Gramm, Leach, and Bliley are all Republicans while Glass and Steagall were Democrats. And to blame President Carter is ridiculous. He ended the discriminatory practices that were gong on at the time. I want to add that Reagan and Bush apparently had no problem with what Carter did since they didn’t overturn it and were Presidents for twelve years after.

Homeless people tend to receive mail at a shelter where they have stayed recently or are currently staying. They may even have a P.O. box; being homeless does not always mean you have nothing. Maintaining a cell phone and an address are often the only way for a homeless individual to secure employment without a permanent address. So yes, he may not have enough money for food, but saw a cell phone as a good investment.

More frequently, I see homeless individuals with phones paid for by family members who want to keep track of loved ones despite past mistakes. Homeless people have increased risk for many health concerns and may move around without warning based on shelter bed availability or lack thereof.

If I had a cell phone, I'd dare take a picture of the First Lady if she was serving me lunch. So I guess I'm ok with another person "daring" to do the same. I hope he dares to escape the horrific cycle of homelessness as well. Let the guy have his phone, his picture, and his moment without scorn.
